Boot update

Well, I've worn the Boots of Hell for two days running now, and walked reasonably far in them, and my feet are just fine. I suspect that the foot-agony was probably something to do with trying to speedwalk to the station because I was late two days in a row. Resolved not to do that again.

Actually, for a change I'm having no problem with being late: the weather's (mostly) fine, I'm getting plenty of sleep, and I've restarted taking my flask of coffee into Uni with me, which brightens up my day immensely. The last couple of weeks have been really productive. My group project's coming along nicely, although the physics could use some work - but that's not my job: I've been handling basically anything that isn't physics. As a result, the app is rather shiny, and has some gratuitous featuritis: see the earlier comment about being able to create a binary clock (with a pinball guttering and re-launching as the clock generator...)

I'm starting to see how my dad can be so enthusiastic about his work. I guess I just needed to find the right project. I've been spending about six hours a day or more working on this code for several weeks, with a few week-long breaks after delivering a report or prototype. It's awesome to have something to hack on.

Mind you, I still need some breaks. So, after a weekend of coding, I rented Serenity on DVD on Monday night, and sat down to watch it with Nate (who'd never seen it in the cinema.) Twas awesome - even more so because after a false start with the living room TV (which appears to be on the blink) I hooked my big laptop up to the stereo. Mmm, bass. Not quite a home cinema system - but pretty damn close. Monkey brains, woot.

Then I watched it the following day with the commentary on. First movie (and director) I've ever liked enough to do that with. I'm thinking of buying the series, comic and film on DVD now...

Also, a discovery: the Blues Brothers soundtrack CD is so much fun to drum along to.
