He leaned his head on the older boy’s shoulder. He shut his own eyes tightly as the cold wind blew on his face. His big warm hands ran along his hazel coloured hair. They were sitting on a bench in a park and the wind tonight was rather chilly. Jonghyun didn’t complain cold at all, all he knows right now was to keep his lover accompany. It’s been a tough week for his lover, having to face so much of his family despise and hatred.

“Feeling better?” Jonghyun murmured as he looked at the other boy. Kibum didn’t turn to look at his lover, only closed his eyes and enjoyed the cold breeze. His hand interlocked tightly with Jonghyun’s as if Jonghyun would be gone the next moment when he let go. Jonghyun pressed his lips lightly on his hair.

“Don’t worry. I’m here for you.” It was the only thing that Jonghyun could do to ease his lover’s pain. When you love someone, you would wish the whole family supporting this relationship despite the other’s rejection. It didn’t happen to Kibum, his dad almost disown him because of that.

Kibum only ran out of the house, not wanting to hear any of their reason that was unreasonable. What’s wrong being in love? What’s wrong loving someone with the same sex? Kibum couldn’t see the problem. He can’t see it at all. At least he had a caring boyfriend who would always be there for him no matter what. That’s something relief.

“Can I.. Stay over at our own house?” Jonghyun heard Kibum’s request. That’s right, Kibum can’t go home right now. Perhaps it’s best if he stayed over for the night.

Along the way, there were only silent left between them. It was like forever to reach their apartment. Kibum was the first one to step in the house, Jonghyun then closed the door behind. Key made his way to the bedroom, Jonghyun put down his bag on the couch before going in to the room.

Kibum was already lying on the bed quietly, soft sniffled could still be heard. Jonghyun changed into his pyjamas before slipping under the blanket. Key snuggled closer, Jonghyun could see his puffy red eyes staring at him. He let Key’s head lie on his chest, his finger caress softly on his hair.

Perhaps tonight would be a long night, at least Jonghyun would be there for Key during this night.

Jonghyun knelt down beside the bed and looked at Kibum who was sleeping soundly. His fingers careless lightly against his hair, he then leaned down to kiss lightly on his forehead. With a kiss Kibum opened his eyes, Jonghyun felt bad for waking his lover up but decided to use a joke to cover it.

“Sleeping beauty, finally awake?” Jonghyun teased, hoping to lighten the atmosphere around them. Kibum nodded his head, stretched his arms and legs.

“But I thought the prince in Sleeping beauty kiss the princess on the lips?” Kibum was asking so obviously for a kiss on the lips, of course, Jonghyun won’t let his princess’s hope down.

“Is it? Then the prince will gladly do it.” Jonghyun leaned down with a small peck on his lover’s lips.

“Alright, I have to go to work. I’ll be back for dinner.” Jonghyun ruffled Kibum’s hair and left the room. Kibum wanted to selfishly make Jonghyun stay but he knows he can’t and he shouldn’t.

Kibum was busy preparing dinner in the kitchen while waiting patiently for his Jonghyun to come home. All of the dishes that he specially prepared were all Jonghyun’s favourite. Thinking of the fact he would be able to see his puppy-like smile, Kibum couldn’t help but to feel contented.

As long as Jonghyun is with him, he doesn’t really need anything or anyone else.

The phone rang, Kibum turned off the fire on the stove as he was already done. He washed his hands quickly and picked up the call.

“Hello?” The air at the end of the phone seemed to be rather still, it seem as if the person was in an enclosed room.

“Kibum, come quickly to the Seoul Hospital. Jonghyun hyung… He… He met an accident.” The unpleasant news came unexpectedly. Kibum dropped the phone immediately.

“Hello? Kibum? Are you still there?” His hands were trembling, he can’t believe what he just heard was true. No. It can’t be. He grabbed the phone up again.

“Ye-yes. I will make my way there now.” He hung up the phone and grabbed a jacket and his phone and wallet. He rushed off to the hospital with lighting speed.

He reached the entrance of the hospital and gotten another phone call from Minho. He made his way quickly to the operating theatre 3. He ran as fast as his leg could bring him but the moment he was near there. Cries were getting louder. Was he too late?

He saw Minho standing at the side, despondent look on his face. He saw the light on top of the door was switched off, the doctors that were walking to his way. Jonghyun’s mom was crying in despair. Key struggled towards them.

“What happen? Where’s Jonghyun?” He managed to choke out a question. Tears were running down his face.

“Jonghyun… Jonghyun… He’s dead.” She wailed even louder, with her daughter at her side holding on her if not she may just fell down on the ground. Kibum shook his head unbelievingly. He still remembered his warm touches and kisses this morning. He still can remember his voice when he called his name. Why god making it the last time?

Minho managed to hold on to Kibum. His legs went numb, tears were flowing down like river.

“No… No…” He still couldn’t register his death in his mind, no, he doesn’t want to register his death at all. It must be a joke. It must be a joke.

“Kibum, get a hold of yourself.” Minho usual calm voice was also affected. His voice was shaking too.

“Minho, tell me this is not true. Tell me this is a joke.” Kibum was begging Minho. He was begging so desperately for it. Minho could only hug Kibum tightly in his arms, pressing his head on his chest.

“It’s true, he’s gone.” His word shattered Kibum’s heart even more.

“Will you be okay?” Minho was standing outside Jongkey’s shared apartment. Kibum nodded.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be alright.” He assured but Minho still wasn’t so sure if he should let Kibum be alone for now.

“It’s better if I stay with you.”

“I said, it okay. Don’t worry, I promise I will be still breathing tomorrow.” He reassured Minho once again, Minho could see how determined Key was and decided to let Key to be alone for tonight. Just tonight.

“I hope you keep your promise.” Minho then left his doorstep and headed home. Of course, Key did thought of ending his life tonight, since Jonghyun broke his promise with him. Why did he bother keeping promise he had with others? He dumped all the food down the dustbin, cleaning up the plates.

He was thinking of an easy death where it wouldn’t be so painful at all. No point cutting and bleed to death even though this was what Jonghyun died of. Excessive blood lost. It stings his heart once again. He can’t let himself to be in such depression since he would be joining Jonghyun soon.

He opened up the medical cabinet, to find sleeping pills. That’s right, he could just eat some and who knows and gone in the morning.

He wanted to pour out the pills but the container was snatched away. He turned to see who the person could be and only to gape in awe.

“Don’t do this, Kibum.” It was Jonghyun, Kim Jonghyun standing in front of him.

“J-j-jong? Is that you?” Key wanted to touch his face but his hands ran pass him. Was it his imagination that he was there? Was he starting to have hallucination?

“It’s me, Jonghyun.” He was surprised that Jonghyun’s cold hands touched him. It seemed as if he was physically there only just colder than before. He could feel his tears gathering in his eyes, blurring his sight once again.

“Jonghyun…” Jonghyun hugged Kibum tightly in his arms. Although Jonghyun seemed a little translucent, he didn’t give a damn. At least he’s there, even though his hug was colder than usual. He’s there.

“You broke your promise, Jonghyun.” He said between his sobs.

“I know. I’m an asshole for that.” Jonghyun patted his hair softly and looked into Kibum’s eyes.

“No, you are an idiot.” Kibum corrected and laughed slightly. Jonghyun was glad Kibum was laughing.

“Whatever you say princess. I’m back at your side now.” His words were warm and warm Kibum’s broken heart.

Jinki was enjoying his coffee in his own café. He looked outside the window and almost choked on his drink when he saw the couple. Jinki frowned when he saw Jonghyun walking hand in hand with Kibum. It wasn’t because he didn’t acknowledge gay couple, he himself was one of them and currently with his lover, Lee Taemin living happily together.

“Jinki hyung!” Key greeted with energy, not like yesterday where he seemed so dead and gloomy. It was a good thing that he gotten over depression but with different reason.

“Hi Key and... Jonghyun.” He stopped a little in the middle of his sentence. Both of them were acting like usual, which scared Jinki a little.

“Can I have a word with you Kibum? In private?” Jinki asked Key but turned his gazed towards Jonghyun when he said the word private. Of course Jonghyun didn’t follow Key and Jinki into the kitchen he obediently stood outside.

“Key, as Jonghyun’s lover you should know that he died, right?” Key nodded with a little sadness and regret in his eyes.

“Then?” Jinki looked at Jonghyun once again who was standing outside, people were walking pass him.

“Then what?” Key didn’t get Jinki’s hint. It’s not that Key wasn’t smarter than Jinki, he was much faster in getting main points in conversation. Key was just acting dumb.

“You are still holding hand with him? You can’t be with Jonghyun, he’s dead.” Kibum’s emotion changed suddenly, he was fuming mad.

“I don’t want to hear the word ‘dead’ again from you, Lee Jinki! He’s there! His soul is there.”

“But, Key you know other people can’t see him. I can see him because I have the third eye.” Jinki tried to persuade but his stand wasn’t as strong as Kibum.

“It doesn’t matter, as long as I can see him.” Kibum retorted.

“But-” Jinki didn’t want to let go of this matter so easily.

“No more ‘but’! I don’t want to lose a friend like you Jinki.” His words were only making Jinki stop talking about it. Jinki didn’t want to lose a friend like Kibum too. The only reason that Kibum was making Jinki stop talking was to run away from the fact.

Kibum actually didn’t want to face it even though he knew the truth. He’s a human and Jonghyun is a ghost. How can a ghost be with a human? Even with similarities, their differences were too clear. One is alive and the other one is dead. Kibum didn’t want to believe that their difference would one day break them apart.

Maybe, not now…

They were holding hands as they walked along the street. To other it will seem as if Key was holding something transparent, it doesn’t look weird at the moment. Only when Key started talking with Jonghyun about how good was today, weird stare from others were given to Key.

Key ignored all of it. He ignored the fact that other people couldn’t see Jonghyun, pretended that the reason for their weird stare was because of two guys being a couple. He convinced himself all of that so he wouldn’t felt burden.

He’s happy as along as Jonghyun is with him.

“I’m going to my workplace, do you want to come with me?” Jonghyun’s eyes brighten, he can finally take a look at Kibum’s workplace which was in a shop at a shopping mall. Key was a fashion designer, he designs clothes. Jonghyun then tag along. Since they didn’t want to scare off any people on the road, Key was the one driving as other people can see him.

They finally reached the basement of his workplace, Key parked the car before both of them headed up. To Jonghyun’ surprised, Minho was at his shop. The first thing Minho did was to hug Key.

“Oh thank god! You are alive.” Minho tighten his gripped around Key, he has been calling Key’s phone for the nth time still no reply from Key. That’s why Minho decided to take a trip to his shop to see if Key was there. To his relief, he was.

“Relax, Minho. I promise I will be alive, didn’t I?” Of course, Minho didn’t see jealous Jonghyun at the side at all. If not Minho wouldn’t have hug Key. Jonghyun tried to reason with his jealousy monster but failed and still felt jealous about their action.

“I’m glad you are.” Minho ruffled his hair and smiled widely.

“Shouldn’t you be at work?” Minho looked at the time.

“Yes, I should be going. I’ll see you later then.” Minho then walked out of the shop. Jonghyun felt transparent, well he was transparent.

“Key-ssi, is that your boyfriend? You both look so cute together.” Krystal giggled like a fangirl.

“No, he’s not. He’s just my friend.” Key then turned back to look at Jonghyun and pulled him to his workplace. It wasn’t that Key couldn’t see him sulking right from the start, just that he didn’t want to do it in front of Krystal.

“Are you jealous?” Key leaned his face close to Jonghyun.

“Yeah, I am.” Jonghyun pouted.

“Jjong, you should know that I only love you.” Key hung his hand around Jonghyun’s neck and peck softly on his cold lips. Jonghyun only held Key tightly in his arms.

“I know… I just… can’t help it.” Jonghyun explained.

The doorbell rang, Kibum made his way from the couch to the door. He had expected Minho to be outside the door as he called earlier about having dinner with Kibum and Jonghyun. At first Key was surprised Minho knew about Jonghyun’s presence but still didn’t think Minho could have any purpose of doing so.

“Yo.” Key let him in the house. Minho was hesitant at first but still got in anyway.

“Is Jonghyun here?” Minho asked asked as he looked around. Key nodded, finally realize, Minho couldn’t see Jonghyun at all but it doesn’t matter to him.

“Come, take a seat. Dinner will be ready.” Minho awkwardly sat down on the single couch and looked at the couple sofa weirdly. Minho then stood up quickly.

“I think I should help you out.” Minho then helped Key set out the dishes. Minho was expecting three bowls but ended up only with two on the table.

“How about Jonghyun?”

“He can’t swallow the food, so it’s fine. I still remembered he tried drinking the soup and made a mess all over.” Key was laughing as he looked at Jonghyun but in Minho’s eyes he was looking at an empty space. Minho made an uncomfortable cough and sat down. He witness the chair moved on its own. He gaped.

“I met an old granny at the park today, who was like me!” Jonghyun said excitedly. Key looked at Jonghyun.

“How long did she lived?” A sudden question that got Minho froze, was Key talking to him or to Jonghyun?

“She told me longer than I can imagine, most probably before I was even born.” Jonghyun said cheekily. Of course, if she didn’t live before Jonghyun was born, how could he get this old?

“Then did you ask her how many people lived in this house before?” Key was still staring at the empty space. What Minho can infer was Jonghyun was there.

“Why aren’t you talking? You are rather quiet today, Minho.” Key stared innocently at Minho as if he didn’t know what’s bothering Minho. He knows it, he just didn’t want to think it was the reason. Minho still kept quiet and placed the bowl and chopstick down.

He looked at Key calm, knowing well what he says next would get Key agitated.

“Key… Jonghyun does not exist, even if he does, he’s dead.” Key covered his ears for that brief moment, not wanting to hear him saying Jonghyun was dead. Jonghyun wrapped his arms around his shoulder to calm Key down a little. Key stood up.

“Shut up Minho! You don’t understand.” Jonghyun held Key back, not wanting Key to hit Minho. Whatever Minho say was true, Jonghyun know it clearly. It’s just they had been trying so hard to forget about it.

“You should know you are alive and he is dead. You can’t be together.” Minho placed his hands on his shoulder, to stop him from being too agitated. His hands were slapped away harshly by Key.

“We can! Aren’t we together now?” He shouted at Minho. It was the first time he did that.

“You are only lying to yourself and you know it too.” Minho then left knowing that the conversation wouldn’t lead to anywhere. Key dropped on the floor, tears streaming down his face once again. How he wished people wouldn’t constantly remind him about his death and about their difference. He just wants to be Jonghyun, that’s all. Why was everyone making it so difficult?

“I can’t leave without you…” Key hugged on to Jonghyun tightly and buried his head in his shoulder. Jonghyun can only pat his head softly. It was something that they cannot change, it was a fact. He’s dead and Key’s alive. It’s a difference between them they cannot ignore or deny.

1. When Jonghyun came back as a ghost. He didn't push him away even though he's a ghost
2. Onew tell Kibum, remind him Jonghyun is a ghost but he ignored.

As you can see the one time
1. Minho confronted but Key couldn't ignore it again and cried.
