Time zones

One that moves to a new time zone can't help but notice the disconnect between the old and the new. Some are totally awesome, while other leave something to be desired. And I, of course, am ready to provide examples:
+ I now get to celebrate the coming of New Years Day more than once! We here in Dallas, as a group, get to check out Dick Clark's replacement live from New York and watch that ball drop, drink, and kiss all of those of the opposite sex around us.
+ 60 minutes later (no more, no less) we AGAIN watch, drink, and kiss all of those of the opposite sex around us as another ball drops here in Dallas.
- Dallas is the host for the central time zone so we get all kinds of stupid celebrities we don't care about invading the neighborhood.
- When it is midnight in the cst zone, it is far too late to text your friends back home because there you assume they're already passed out, puking, asleep, or nose-deep in a puddle of poon.
- I start missing all the friends that I used to share these moments with, and feel a little homesick.
+ At 1am est, my east coast friends text me to remind me that I'm gone, but not forgotten. And I love and miss them even more.
+ I look around and, out-loud, I thank the wind for all I have, and the opportunity to live the moment twice in a single day. For I'm still relevant in Jax, and celebrating it in Dallas. And really do miss you all.
Good luck in 2014.
