17 Kouyou opened the door. When he entered the white room, a deadly silence fell and Takanori turned around to smile at him. Unlike Akira, who was glaring at the window.
“Look, Kouyou, he just confessed,” Takanori smirked as his lover approached. “He lied.”
Akira groaned something and avoided his gaze. In the corner of his eyes, he saw them hugging, something that was bothering him.
“Do you also know why?” Kouyou whispered, trying to make it unhearable for Akira.
Takanori nodded. “I’ll tell you when we’re going home.”
Kouyou threw a glance at Akira, who looked utterly irritated, and he muttered to Takanori: “Who did it then, actually?”
The smaller man raised his eyebrows. He didn’t think about that yet. Would Akira do something like this to himself, or would he let someone else do it? He turned a quarter turn around and looked at Akira with narrowed eyes. “Yes, who did it then?”
Akira ignored him and stared out of the window, his gaze set on the street which was laying beneath them. Takanori sighed. “You know, nevermind. Come, Kouyou. We’re going home.” He grabbed his lover’s arm and dragged him to the door. Before leaving Akira behind, he threw a glare at him and shut the door with a dull thud.
Akira sighed. He lost him for good, didn’t he? There was no hope left. Not that the thought he could even get Takanori back as his lover - but maybe friends? Maybe he could apologize? It was too late for that now.
When Takanori and Kouyou walked through the corridors, they passed Yuu. The raven paused for a moment but when Takanori just passed him by without even offering a glance, he decided to continue his walk too. Kouyou just followed Takanori as a lost puppy, not knowing what to do or say otherwise.
“I’m sorry I didn’t believe you at first,” Takanori suddenly said while turning around. “I don’t want to think about what would’ve happened if I didn’t.”
Kouyou smiled and spread his arms to hug Takanori. “It’s okay. I would’ve done the same if I was you. I mean… seeing someone like that makes you doubting, doesn’t it?”
Takanori nodded slowly. “But you wouldn’t lie to me, right?”
”No. I wouldn’t. Because I love you.”
“I love you too, Kouyou.”
---
A few days passed, and Takanori spent most of his time with Kouyou. Like now, he was laying beside Kouyou, his head resting on his shoulder.
“Taka, I have an idea,” Kouyou murmured. Takanori sat up to face his lover. “Shoot.”
“Well… I don’t know but… Maybe you could move in?” A shy smile appeared on Kouyou’s face and faint blushed painted his cheeks. “I know you already spend all of your nights here. But moving in is something different… No?”
Bright sparkles appeared in Takanori’s eyes. “Oh, I would love to!”
“But you do need to arrange something with Yuu, don’t you?”
“Oh, right. I’ll see what I can do. Maybe he stays there or maybe he’s going to find himself an apartment… He has a job now.”
“It would be amazing if you could move in with me.”
Takanori nodded cheerfully, smiling broadly. “I already know what Yuu is going to say.”
“What, then?” Kouyou asked, his eyebrows slightly raised.
Takanori lowered his voice to imitate Yuu. “’He lives across the hallway, what’s the point of moving in when you already spend every night with him?’”
Kouyou laughed at Takanori’s well-done imitation of Yuu. “You almost sound the same.”
“I know. I’m an amazing actor.”
“Tell your ego to calm down.” Kouyou grinned and stood up. “Want something to drink? Like a cup of tea or something?”
“Sure, tea is fine!”
While Kouyou walked to the kitchen, Takanori looked around in his apartment. Still, his apartment didn’t change much. There were still some boxes standing in the hallway which needed to be unpacked. Maybe he could help him someday, but if he would move in here, they surely needed to make some place for his belongings. And he didn’t know how much place that would take.
The sound of the doorbell pulled him out of his thoughts. “Taka, could you open up for me?” Kouyou muttered from out of the kitchen. Takanori stood up and walked to the front door. He unlocked it and opened it.
In front of him were standing two men, both wearing glasses and both looking not so happy. “Can I help you?” Takanori muttered. Those guys gave him shivers. They looked like some yakuza-guys.
“Does mister Takashima live here?” the tallest man said.
Takanori nodded. “Wait, I’ll go get him…” He closed the door a bit and walked back to the kitchen. “Ano… Kouyou, there are two really scary men at your door.”
Kouyou turned around and frowned. “What do you mean?” he asked.
“They look like maffia guys. Seriously, they’re creepy. And they’re looking for you.”
Kouyou put the cups of tea down and followed Takanori back to the front door. He opened the door some more to face the men. “Are you Kouyou Takashima?” the same guy asked.
Kouyou nodded. “Why do you need me?” he asked, still frowning. There was something not right here. And Takanori thought so too.
The tall maffia-man pulled a leather card out of his pocket, opened it and showed his badge. Takanori gasped as he saw the shiny police-officer-badge in front of him.
“You need to come with us,” the tall officer said.
“What? No! Why?” Kouyou asked, doing a step backwards as the police officer tried to grab his arm. He looked quite panicked at Takanori.
“I think you know damn well why,” the smaller guy, who used to stay on the background, said.
“But- No! I don’t? Why? Taka, I-“ Kouyou got pulled out of his apartment.
“No! Wait!” Takanori screamed, jumping in between Kouyou and the police officer. “I know what this is about. It’s about Akira, right? Akira Suzuki!”
The taller man frowned. He looked at the smaller guy behind him and then muttered: “You know him?”
”Kouyou didn’t do anything! He is innocent! Akira lied, he lied! Don’t take him with you!”
The smaller man smirked. “Yeah, they all say they’re innocent. I don’t think you can protect your bother anymore, guy.”
”He is not my brother. He’s my boyfriend. Now let go of him!”
“Sorry, guy, we’re going to take him with us for interrogation.”
“Kouyou, tell them the truth…”
”I will, Taka. I will. Now stay here and I’ll try to call you as soon as possible, okay?” Kouyou muttered, before the tall officer pulled him in the elevator. The doors closed and Takanori felt a wave of panic taking over him. He needed to do something, now.
Quickly, he walked to Yuu’s apartment and pushed on the doorbell for five times. When the door got opened, he started to whine immediately: “Yuu, two police men were here! And they took Kouyou with them! And it’s about Akira and- and…” He bit his lip. “They didn’t believe me when I told them he was innocent.”
Yuu blinked to process all the information. “You mean they took Kouyou with them because they think he did that to Akira?”
Takanori nodded heavily.
“But didn’t he admit that he lied?”
“To us, yes. To me. But maybe not to the doctors or the police!”
Yuu frowned. “And you’re coming to me, because…”
”Because you need to come with me! They know I’m his boyfriend so when I start to defense him, they might not believe me! But if there are already two people who say he’s innocent… You need to come with me Yuu, please.”
“Okay then,” Yuu sighed, “because you’re my best friend. Let me dress first.”
It was at that moment that Takanori just realized Yuu was still walking around in his bathrobe, what he always wore when he just got out of the shower. “Okay… But hurry.”
---
Kouyou looked around the darkened room. It was just like in those detective-movies. And it frightened him. In front of him was standing a glass table with a glass of water on it. They told him less then ten minutes ago to sit here and wait, and he has been sitting here and being nervous ever since. For beating someone up completely he could end up in jail. But for breaking someone’s nose? He wasn’t sure. Probably not, but what if he needed to go to some center for aggressive people? He wasn’t aggressive. He was just mad at that moment. But if he needed to defense himself, he probably needed to tell why he hit Akira in his face.
Kouyou closed his eyes and bit his lip. He didn’t need to tell Takanori’s whole past, did he? Just ‘because he hurt my boyfriend’. That’s it. That’s enough.
He opened his eyes when the door opened and light came in. The tall police officer came in, this time without his jacket, so that his name card was visible: Police Officer Y. Uke. He sat down on a chair across from Kouyou and sighed hearable.
Kouyou averted his gaze and stared at the glass of water instead.
“So, Kouyou, you know why you are here now, don’t you?” the officer started, crossing his legs. “It would be a pity if you didn’t.”
“I do know,” Kouyou muttered, glaring at the man in front of him. “But like I said, I didn’t do-“ He cut off himself. He couldn’t say ‘I didn’t do anything’, because he would lie then. And if the police offcer would discover he lied, he wouldn’t believe a single word coming from Kouyou’s mouth anymore. “I didn’t do that to him.”
“Why does Akira tells us you did, then?” the police offer frowned.
“That’s a long story and you don’t have to do a single thing with it.”
“Then I guess I need t arrest you if you don’t want to tell me what happened.”
Kouyou closed his eyes. He didn’t want to tell the whole story. But could he shorten it? Could he put it in a summary? He sighed. Apparently there was nothing else to do now, wasn’t it?
