A podcast I've enjoyed over the last few months is "Living After Faith", hosted by a former conservative pastor turned atheist, Rich Lyons. In this interview he talks to Nate Phelps, the son of Fred Phelps. Nate is an atheist now and talks about his leaving his family and the church. Very intense (for me anyway).

Last night myself and a couple other folks met with a group of pastors (well, 3) at a church in north Seattle to talk about how the church can have a more "pastoral" response to gay folks. I have no idea if this guy is guilty or not but the blind devotion the church members have for their pastor is troubling. I've seen this before - the pastor preaching he's above reproach (when you're confronting him you are confronting God) even in the face of horrendous behavior. I'm on a billion email lists (but not as many as I used to be) and I received an email today from the American Family Association regarding the senate vote about DADT that is apparently happening tomorrow. It doesn't bode well for the remainder of the day when I wake up two hours before I need to and I'm already worked up about something. I sometimes wonder what causes these episodes. The Labor Day weekend has been a busy time of hosting and hanging with friends.
