Today I sat next to a sumo wrestler on my train ride home.
He smelled nice.
We drank champagne at work today (something good happened, but they wouldn't care if we did spontaneously, either).
The COO came back after lunch with a mohawk (no, he did not have one before).
Today was pretty fun. -

one week later
My official offer letter came. I feel better. A little bit anxious still, but better. I won't think too much about the over 30 applications and 11 other interviews...;;; I DID IT! In a week, too.

notes from Nagasaki
I'm back and at work and all, but I've reformatted my computer four times in the past four days and, well, things are not going so well.
Over my Kyushu weekend, I spent a grand total of 29 hours on the bus(!!!) and the lack of sleep seems to have made my immune system unhappy.

east and west
Last Monday I went on a school visit and spoke to fourth graders about the differences in Eastern and Western culture. Simple things, like house design/features, clothing, food, school life... one of my pictures was of myself dressed up for Halloween many years ago. A gas station that we stopped at yesterday gives out free taiyaki on weekends. For everyone in the car, it seems. Apparently this is a very normal concept, but I was pretty surprised/amused. And they weren't even taiyaki, but, like, weird bear-yaki... maybe it's supposed to be a panda?

A Korean lady sent my co-worker an e-mail and I imagine she meant to write something like Please do your best!
What came out was それでは苦労してください, which means now please suffer.
