A gas station that we stopped at yesterday gives out free taiyaki on weekends. For everyone in the car, it seems. Apparently this is a very normal concept, but I was pretty surprised/amused. And they weren't even taiyaki, but, like, weird bear-yaki... maybe it's supposed to be a panda?
Today I had an elementary school visit. As we pulled up to the entrance of the school, we saw this:
The driver was fine and on the phone with a tow truck or something. I don't even know how he managed that and didn't hurt anyone. An interesting sight.
Later during that visit, Tsegi was teaching the kids how to play rock, paper, scissors Mongolian style, which entails using your individual fingers instead of hand shapes. She asked me to help her, and a part of the demonstration involved me sticking my middle finger at everyone for several minutes. It felt so wrong to me, but I guess I was the only one who was bothered. Hey, I flipped off an entire room of first graders and their teachers today!
All in all, it's been colorful. I am wavering.
