Hello...

Jan 21, 2010 21:11

I haven't updated since well before Christmas, but I have been reading and keeping up with what everyone is up to.  I've also been updating viki_101 with my mission 101 tasks - so I'm lurking on the internet somewhere!!

The last couple of months has been very busy - Christmas came and went in a flash.  It was great to have some time off and see my family.  I also got some lovely presents and was happy that everyone seemed to like the gifts from me. torallion bought me a Wii and Wii fit (haven't had a go at the latter yet) which was a big surprise and has provided lots of amusement, including the sight of my parents trying to play tennis against each other on it.

Spent New Year back in London with my sister at her new flat. I was very ill following New Year, what started as a sore throat (and it was the most painful sore throat I can remember having - like having a little grater in my throat for 4 days) turned into a full blown cold, which meant I had to postpone my return to work by a day and I'm still feeling the final lingering effects of it now.

I haven't got it in me to write about work right now.  Needless to say, things are worse now than they were before Christmas.  Over the holiday period the client changed all its protocols and it's been like coming back to a completely different (and not in a good way) job.  Morale, which I thought had hit rock bottom, is plummeting into unknown depths and people barely talk to each other.  One of my colleagues, one of the few I actually get on with and can be relied upon to get a mid-morning cuppa like normal people do, quit and walked out on Wednesday this week.  Didn't even work her notice.  Gone.  That's 4 people to leave in 6 months and all in surprisingly similar circumstances, quietly letting everything get too much before finally snapping and disappearing overnight.  It's really scary.

I am restarting my healthy living kick (which is customary as it's New Year!) but I don't think I'll be writing too much about it on here.  I'm considering having a new blog for that where I can be totally honest and not feel embarassed by knowing that people who know me are able to read my wibbles about my weight issues.

I have a few days annual leave to take before the end of this financial year, so I have booked the first week in March off.  I'm going to have a holiday.  The first decision to make is whether to go cheap and cheerful (which prob means staying in the UK) in view of the fact the house needs so much work and when we bought it we knew that other expensive things like holidays or replacing my car would be out of the question for a few years.  Or to see if we can get a cheap-ish late deal abroad.  But this will still be more expensive and we'll also have to put the cats in a cattery too.  Anyway, it's nice to have something to plan for and look forward to.

Well, that's a brief-ish overview of the most important things that spring to mind.  Will try to update more often!
