Understandably, the podiatrist/foot surgeon wants to avoid surgery. So he duct taped a bunch of thick pads on the bottoms of my insole. I have to admit it did make them more cushiony and supportive. I have to give it 2 weeks and hope it improves things ( Read more... )

In other news, a Filipino nurse at work noticed my last name on my badge and got all exciting when she found out I am half Filipino.  She did not really believe it because I don't have "the big, flat nose of a Filipino." (Her words) That led to a few coworkers wanting to see pictures of my father, which I happened to have some in a box in my car. ( Read more... )

I was reminded this morning that today is the 5th anniversary of "The Blackout of 2003". Thursday, August 14, 2003, the power went out in parts of Ohio, Michigan, New York and Canada.

During my recent move I had found the book journal in which I had started writing about that whole series of unfortunate events. Now I can't remember where I put it.
