This year I've noticed a definite increase in my sensitivity to the cold. I was in full-out bundle-up mode before it even got below freezing. At this rate, I'm going to end up looking like the Michelin man. I might even wear a hat.

Today out on the highway it was sunny, but there was a haze which my mind wanted to see as coming from salt dust floating in the air.  As the big trucks went by, they kicked up clouds of it.  I wonder what effect all the tons of road salt have on the land.  It certainly doesn't stop the plants from growing right up to the edge of the pavement ( Read more... )

I was out driving just before sunrise today. Between rosy banks of cloud in the East was a beautiful crescent moon. There are many months when I catch the New Moon hanging in the West with an evening star nearby and it is breathtaking, but the waning crescent is more elusive, it seems.
