Day 14: Short Walk Again

Aug 17, 2011 01:30

I did not walk yesterday, due a combination of bad weather and not wanting to risk setting the flare off again.  Today, I was a little shaky because I had cleaned the oven and the stooping and reaching had worn me out, so I did the .33 mile walk again.  I'm really looking forward to getting back to the .73 mile walk.

I saw several birds, but no rabbits.  The closest bird was a sparrow perched on our fence as I came back up the street near the end of the walk.  It watched me for a moment, decided I was getting too close, and flew away.  I did hear geese over at the pond honking, but of course I couldn't see why.  I suspect a group of new arrivals coming in low from the west - I saw that happen on one of my earlier walks.

We saw a few dogs today, but none of them were ones to visit with.  The first one was our neighbor's little dog.  Niko isn't the friendliest dog at the best of times, and he seems to hate other dogs, so when I saw our neighbor starting her walk with him, we kept going, even though Manny would have loved to go say hi.

The other dogs were a pair of what appeared to be lab mixes that were put out in their yard just as we approached.  They were both wagging their tails (one was having a grand time with a ball, while the other one barked at us), but their human was nowhere to be seen, so I didn't risk it.  For once, Manny didn't seem to mind.

My knees have been hurting all day - there's another front coming through on Thursday, and I think I'm feeling it.  As long as it doesn't trigger another flare, I can deal.
