After a week of taking it easy by laying off runs in lieu of biking and swimming, icing my shins, and resting, I ran 5 miles on Saturday (did you just hear me say 5 miles?  As in FIVE?!  A new personal record!) and my shins felt much better.  I cross-trained on Sunday and Monday again, just to be on the safe side, and today tried another 3 miles, ( Read more... )

I am in the market for a heart-rate monitor, and am at a loss for which one to get.  There are all sorts of them, ranging in price from $20-$1300 (who on EARTH would pay $1300 for a stupid little heart-rate monitor?  Is it made of gold?).  Basically, I want one that is fairly accurate, and if it has extra things like a pedometer, stopwatch, etc., ( Read more... )

You may have heard of the brand new health & fitness center that just opened at Washtenaw Community College.  I had heard it was nice, and from what my hairstylist told me about it, I made up my mind to check it out.

It's tendonitis.  Of course.  So I have to wear a wrist brace for a while and get work to order me an ergonomic keyboard like this.  Won't help much when I'm at home on my laptop, but it's something.

Not good.  Pain in my right arm.  It's been getting gradually worse for a few weeks now.  My hand is very tight, it hurts to use the computer.  Tingles shoot up my fingers, and pain shoots up my forearm and sometimes past my elbow.  I suspect a little bit of carpal tunnel syndrome, which really wouldn't be surprising with how much I've been using ( Read more... )
