Entering Jack’s office, Ianto frowned. “From the looks of things, you haven’t made any progress since the last time I was in here.”
“I have!” Jack insisted. He pointed to his outbox, which contained a single thin folder. His inbox, on the other hand, resembled the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Ianto wasn’t sure how the teetering pile of files and reports had so far failed to collapse across Jack’s desk or onto the floor.
“One folder in two hours? What’ve you been doing? Obviously not paperwork.”
“I tried!” Jack pouted. “I just can’t concentrate without something to nibble on, and I already finished the cookies you gave me with my coffee. If you expect me to get all this done, I’ll need a lot more sustenance than two chocolate hobnobs. Paperwork takes a lot of brain power. Without fuel I can’t keep my eyes open.” He turned on the puppy-dog eyes full force.
Ianto retaliated with an eyeroll. “Got an excuse for everything, haven’t you? Don’t answer that.” He sighed. “Fine, if I get you something to nibble, then will you do some work?”
Five minutes later, sucking happily on a stick of Cardiff rock, Jack settled down to work.
