A/N: Triple drabble.
Ryo was having a difficult time trying not to laugh. It made a refreshing change not to be the one blushing, since he was usually the favored target of any humiliating disasters. For once it was Dee’s turn to be on the receiving end, and it was good to know his supremely confident partner wasn’t completely immune to embarrassment.
They’d been chasing a suspect, not an unusual state of affairs, and as so often happened, the pursuit had led them over the urban equivalent of an assault course. That wasn’t a problem; both detectives were in good shape and used to scaling fences, walls, fire escapes, and other inconvenient obstacles. This time, Dee had been in the lead by a couple of strides, having been closer to their suspect’s chosen escape route when the chase began, so Ryo had gotten an excellent view as Dee had scrambled up the chain link fence, tried to flip over the top, and arrived on the other side with his pants around his ankles, the manoeuvre having broken the zipper and torn off an already loose button. Gravity had done the rest.
It might not have been so bad if Dee hadn’t decided to go commando that day in deference to the heat, and if he hadn’t landed right in front of a group of ladies on their way to afternoon bingo in a nearby hall.
As Dee hurriedly yanked his pants up, his face turning scarlet, Ryo dropped from the fence, having come over the top more carefully, and swept past his partner, running flat out. He would have liked to stick around and see what Dee would do next, but he had a job to do; there was a suspected murderer trying to make his getaway.
Dee could take care of himself.
