It's been oddly peaceful today and I am grateful for it. Charlotte slept the first three hours of last night in her own bed, and after I got up at 7:20 this morning, she slept in until 11 a.m. !! Less than two hours later, she was down for a nap, then up for another hour or so and back down for another nap now. I've got a lot of things done today, but most importantly, I've had some mental space. Periods of absolute quiet with no one needing me. Bliss.
When the girls got home from school this afternoon, they dropped their bags inside the door and immediately left for Christmas pageant rehearsal until 5. Avoiding the whole after-school whirlwind of hunger, whining, and demands is a bonus. A quick supper tonight then Kim is off to karate, Julia has her usual homework/bath/bed routine, and then Jack should be home.
It snowed last night, all morning and it's still unbearably cold; into the minus 30's with the wind chill. Me no likey winter :-(
Jack's car is *dead* and likely won't revive until it warms up a bit so I am without wheels - boo hoo. I need to buy milk, but.....and I want to pick up my mail but.... I'm not against walking, but being out in this cold for nearly an hour with Charlotte would just be crazy, even if she was bundled up in her sled. There is milk at the convenience store and the post office building is accessible all evening so I'll survive.
Aaahhhhhh.....another half an hour of peace and then, back to reality.
