Battening down hatches...

... the new house is still fine, the street bone dry (though our putative builder hasn't been able to get to us this week as his street, though not his house which is raised up, is flooded!)

But Oxford is still sitting in a lake - the water meadows across from the Small People's school, which we are used to seeing under water but only for a few days at a time, have now been flooded continuously since before Christmas - and it is incredibly windy. Though frankly, nothing like how it is on the west coast, where they have hurricane-force winds.

Hoping all of you in the path of the weather are safe, and dry... bearing in mind that on the south and west coasts it's like this...

... although there are those managing to take advantage of the conditions!

But oh lord, this is the sort of thing that happened yesterday/last night! At least one person has been killed; if one is all, that's a minor miracle...

weather, rl
