The province is assuring us that river flooding will NOT be an issue, despite the extra snow we've received - again. We got about 8 inches last night and today in addition to what we got last week, and added to what'll be coming up from Fargo as melt in a few weeks.

It's dropping down to -12C today. We don't actually have a high today: there was an asterisk next to our forecasted temperature. Tomorrow our high is supposed to be -17C. Normal for this time of year is about -3C ( Read more... )

Finances being what they are, it was a subdued weekend again.

Friday we stopped by Future Shop to exchange the router. plonq suspected that the issues with the router actually involved a compatibility problem with our modem, so we exchanged the Linksys router for a D-Link. After the arctic temperatures we've been seeing for the past few weeks, this morning was a revelation. About a week ago, we were seeing temps around -25C; today the temperature was just below freezing.

It seems strange to me that this temperature is what I'm really used to for winter. Northeast Ohio gets a ton of snow - more than we get in ( Read more... )

It was quite a shock to us, coming home to this. After the t-shirt weather we had before we left for Ohio, and the chilly but very seasonable weather we saw in Ohio, arriving home to windchills of -35C (-31F) was eye-opening. We were woken up at about 1:15am this morning by one mother of a storm. Something woke us both up, and before we realized that the other person was also awake, we both lay there thinking, "Man, the air conditioner sounds like it's about to die."
