On the good side - a columnist advocates for his son's career and schooling

I take this column. Blankenhorn ran some posts about his son's ADHD and the trouble he was having in school because of it. I sent him a private message suggesting that it sounded like Asperger's and pointed out that "this is not a death sentence" and went on with some strong encouragement.

Unfortunately, his son seems to have had the sort of teachers who (as I said in my comment to this post) feel their job is to instill and enforce the social norms - whose temperament inclines them that way. My sister's temperament inclined her that was but also towards seeing how to bring everybody into the Big Tent by accomodation and by variable teaching methods.

Now if we can only get him to realize that his cats should also be treated as free citizens of the world.
