Boring day to day stuff

Ashlyn has taken it upon herself to tell me when it's time to do the next thing for "school". So this morning she came up to me & told me "Mommy, it's time for circle time" Of course this was in the middle of a TV show that Lexie was watching, so Lexie wasn't so impressed w/ Ashlyn's timing, LOL.

We went to the library storytime today (for the first time in a few years ). When they were babies, we went semi-regularly, but then the 2 yr old storytime required you to register & I just never got around to it, and then was totally out of the habit. But when I was at the main library a couple weeks ago getting the books for our current unit, the librarian noticed that the books I was looking for had an insect theme to them & she mentioned that this week's storytime was going to be an insect theme as well, so I thought we should for sure hit it. The preschool storytime doesn't require registration & looks like it's every week so we can go weekly if we want. The girls stayed back against the wall w/ me (rather than sitting up closer) which I expected, and seemed somewhat restless, but both were quite definite that they want to go again, so we'll probably try to go at least once or twice a month :)

It was also HOT this afternoon so I pulled out the sprinkler. Ashlyn was extremely excited, when I pulled out the swimsuits for this summer to see that there was a mermaid one (moobugsmom, I think it was from you, so she is very appreciative that one of your girls liked mermaids at one point LOL). They managed to step on the sprinkler & break it, but it's a cheapy one that we've had for a few years, so no biggie. I pulled out the "just for playing in" one that I got last summer (circle of vinyl (I guess?) w/ holes in it, water fills the tube & then the water shoots up out of the holes) but they seemed to have preferred the plain old sprinkler, so will be getting another one for sure since I can also set it so that it waters a section of the flower beds so that there's at least SOME usefulness going on.

Had to laugh at the girls. Art today was coloring on coffee filters w/ markers & then spraying them with water to make the colors all run together. As they were drawing/coloring, they were both INSISTENT that they didn't want the water on them, so I finished mine (had figured I'd do one to "practice" the water thing so I didn't mess one of theirs up if there was some trick to it) & went ahead & sprayed my water, then left them to continue coloring on their coffee filters. Lexie finally said "well, maybe you can spray mine a LITTLE" and then I realized part of the issue, they didn't realize that THEY get to do the spraying LOL. Once they found out that they got to spray the water they both decided to spray them. Next time we do art (not supposed to be till next week, but if Ashlyn asks tomorrow I'll probably go ahead & let them LOL) they get to use toothbrushes to splatter paint around (definitely an outside project LOL), they should think that's great fun LOL.

Ants haven't come for the ant farm yet, so we still have that to do for this insect, then we get to move on to butterflies.

I'm still really congested, but must be getting a tad better, last week (I think it was) I noticed something leaking out of the lawn mower the day after dh had mowed. I told dh about it & said it was clear & that *I* couldn't smell anything, but that didn't mean much. Well, sure enough it was gas. The next day dh had me leave the garage open during the day to let it air out & I kind of wondered if it was fully aired out in one day, but didn't think too much about it, *I* couldn't smell anything. Well, this morning when I went out I could actually smell the gas for the first time LOL, so that's a start . . .  right?
