Same old, same old . . .

Not much going on, but thought I should probably update anyway. Last weekend I came down w/ a cold/flu kind of thing that I am STILL battling, bleh! We'd already made plans to go to my parents' on Sabbath to celebrate mom's birthday & mother's day for mom & grandma, so we went up, but I pretty much slept in the recliner all day while mom played with the kids. So at least they had fun LOL. Apparently at some point Dad took them out & they were playing under the willow trees & Dad tried to set Ashlyn up onto a limb of the tree, but she freaked. Lexie was all for it though & happily sat up there for quite awhile.

For all the grandmothers for mother's day we had painted flower pots & then I was GOING to just buy flowers to put in the pots, but I got the pots first & then went to get flowers & the flowers we got were too big to go in the pots I had, SO we just gave them the flowers separate & planted seeds in the flower pots. I let them choose the seeds & then I had them draw little "marker" things to stick in the pots I was rather amazed at how accurately both of them, but especially Ashlyn, were able to draw the various flowers (pansies, morning glory, marigolds, etc) from the pictures on the seed packets.

Then Sunday dh took the girls down to MIL's to celebrate mother's day with her & Monday night took them back down to celebrate her birthday. They assure me they had fun, but that's all the details I got out of them LOL.

And then this week has been pretty laid back since I haven't been feeling good. We were between units in preschool anyway so I just put the next unit off a week, we'll start it Monday.

We did go dye clothes at my friend Angie's house on Thursday. The girls were quite insistent on helping throughout the process, long after the other kids had lost interest & moved on to other things. The stuff I had to dye this time was all clothes for them & so I let them choose the colors, they were actually quite colorful in their choices, rather than going w/ all pink & purple like I'd kind of been expecting. Angie was teasing me about the wild combinations they were going to be wearing once they were all done, and sure enough, yesterday Ashlyn came down quite happy to be wearing her purple shirt with her golden yellow shorts & carrying her orange bag LOL. Lexie went for all green though & wore her green shirt with her green leggings :) Ashlyn had to wear her purple shirt again today for church, but was content to wear it under a khaki jumper so it was all good LOL.

As always seems to happen, dying ends up being an all day kind of thing, the girls ended up both falling asleep on the chairs in Angie's living room while we waited for the last batch to run through the washer. Thankfully they transferred to car & then to bed w/o waking up, so it was all good.

The next morning Ashlyn informed me that she wanted "sandwiches like we had at Miss Angie's" which would be (vegetarian, obviously) sloppy joes. I don't think the girls had ever had them before. DH doesn't like them (too tomato-ey &/or too many things mixed together, not sure which). I don't dislike them, but they're not something I would make just for me & I think mom's kind of the same way, she used to make them once in awhile when we were kids, though I think we had them more often at school) but it's not something she or Dad likes well enough to make now. . . so anyway, it had totally fallen off my radar as a meal option. Guess I need to add it back in as a lunch option (since DH still won't eat it LOL)

Today Ashlyn slept in later than I think she's done in the past year! It was close to 9:00 when I finally woke her up & asked if she wanted to go to church or keep sleeping. She was insistent on going to church, despite my promise that if she & I stayed home, Daddy could bring a craft home for her (the crafts that they do in Kindergarten SS are a huge draw for both girls LOL) or that we could do our own craft here at home. I was concerned hat she wasn't feeling well, but once she was dressed & moving, she seems fine. So who knows. And then, after all that, the "craft" was just coloring a picture that they didn't even get to bring home (it was a picture of a flag & then someone is going to give them to the veterans in our church next weekend for Memorial Day (I'm abit unclear on whether they're going to drag the veterans (some of them?) into our SS next week to present them in person or if the teacher's just going to do it, or what). So Ashlyn was rather disturbed that she didn't get to bring her craft home. I told her that we would do another craft when we got home, so THEN she decided that it needed to involve glitter (since the ones at SS often do). I suggested painting instead (I don't think I HAVE any glitter & there's a reason for that LOL)  so this afternoon we set them up with paints & let them have fun LOL. I'm not sure why this time, when we've been doing lots of other painting & it hasn't happened, but Ashlyn ended up w/ paint all over herself! Her hands were covered, she had some on her neck (I"m guessing pushed her hair back, on her leg, on her tummy . . . she was quite the site :) We always take shirts off to paint & this time since they hadn't changed after church that meant they were in just their uw, so it was no biggie, we just threw her in the shower (& of course Lexie had to join her. DH took them up  to do that quite awhile ago & they're still up there, not sure if they're still in the shower or just playing up there, shrug.

So, I think that's pretty much the extent of our boring updates on life.

Oh I also got in a Just Tomatoes co-op order (so 4 HUGE boxes full of smaller boxes of dried fruits & veggies) and the girls had alot of fun, and did a pretty good job, helping me sort that all out. Now I just need to find the energy to get it MAILED out to people so that it stops taking over my living room LOL. But we've been enjoying OUR part of the order anyway :)
