Wah... failed the GD 1-hour

Jan 23, 2007 15:06

Well, I failed the 1-hour GD test.  142 when their top limit is 139.  So now I have to go to the OB office, pick up a lab slip, then sometime in the next week do the overnight fasting and show up at 8:30 at the lab for the 3-hour test.

My iron count was also "a little low" and the nurse asked me to pick up an iron supplement and I told her I can't take extra iron with my IBS (I won't TMI the majority of you on why that is).  I asked her if I could try increasing my iron via diet and admitted I'd been slacking in the Vitamin C department (which increases your absorbtion of iron).  She said we'd try the diet until my next appointment (in two weeks) and I get to get my finger stuck to retest it.  If that doesn't help, then I just have to take the supplement.

Dang it, I was doing good on keeping my iron count up this round.  I'm chronicly low-iron when not pregnant (often get turned down for blood donations) and was rather proud I'd been normal on each testing at OB office and WIC.  I'm dragging out all my lists from the endocrinologist.  Looks like me and tuna fish get to fall back in love, among other things, eh?  Most of my iron lately has been more "vegetarian" so that is probably part of it.

It's funny.  The last glucose test I had worried my endo so much that he put me on a severely restrictive hypoglycemic diet because my levels didn't react normally and stayed too low (that was 5-6 years ago).  Darn pregnancy making my body go backwards.  ;-)

bebeh, whining
