On the good side: Mum awake and doing very well, touch wood - communicating via Magna Doodle despite bandaged/splinted arms (graft, tubes etc), compos, frustrated as one would expect but medics pleased all round. YES! Misato's back - seems okay. Not himself, totally, and there's some doubt about how well his eye works, but vet thinks he's fine to go. All we have to do is keep him inside for a few weeks (!)

Still at the vet's - he's apparently "coming good" but his eyes are still wonky and not responding to light terribly well etc. Which is essentially what they said this morning, so no change. They want to investigate a "lesion" in one eye, probably unconnected to snakebite (but who knows where he got bitten, etc ( Read more... )

2am. Just got back from vet's - emergency callout for Misato on suspicion of snakebite. Not as bad/far along as he was last time; breathing okay, and he was still bunnyhopping rather than unable to move, but Doc thought we were probably right. Just went to print and found my paper drawer inhabited by god knows how many baby mice. Beautiful fractal nest... made up of everything I had left.
