They're back! At least five of them (calling males, presumably) - plus or minus a female or two. Found two mating in the swimming pool - large and grey - and two more very large black specimens up the other end. Those two growl. It's wonderful, they call all night.

The block is blooming - all in the last 2-3 days or so. Nine more patches of P. rubicundus (of varying size and decrepitude, mostly single fruiting bodies but a couple of clusters 2-3). Ruddy big white field-type agarics everywhere. Wee orange fungus on the sleepers ( Read more... )

Very soggy day today; spent the morning avoiding study by biking around floody Bungendore, then came back and wallowed in the rain with fungi. Creek well over banks, and as of 7:30 the fields on either side of the Kings Highway were threatening to well up over the road ( Read more... )
