Quietest 4th of July I can remember.

I think it got pretty much rained out. Yesterday was a soaker... it would rain, stop raining, and then another thunderstorm would roll in. They were "training"... one after another in a wide line coming right through this area - and it started around 9 and was still going on around 11 last night.

It was connected to the hurricane... a very long feeder band of sorts going right through central Florida.

In fact, the thunder was worse than the fireworks... scared our kitties silly a couple of times (one was less than 500 feet away - just one gigantic "BOOM"). For the first time in years, it didn't sound like WWIII out here - and I don't think I heard a single gunshot the whole evening. Only one BIG man-made boom the whole afternoon and evening... I think someone made a homemade bomb (just to make a big bang). It didn't sound like some sort of firework, or a firearm. (It might have been a black powder cannon.) Although it rattled the house, the kitties didn't run. They DID for a couple of the blasts of thunder.

Last 4th, I went outside and the entire area was dense with firework smoke. Not this time.

It's raining again today, and feels like a steam bath outside (worse than the usual summertime weather). I'm not sure what I'm going to do today... I was going to "weedeat" the kitty's play area, but that may be out because of the rain - I don't like working with wet vegetation using power tools, as it tends to not work.

fireworks, celebration, guns
