Quietest 4th of July I can remember.

I think it got pretty much rained out. Yesterday was a soaker... it would rain, stop raining, and then another thunderstorm would roll in. They were "training"... one after another in a wide line coming right through this area - and it started around 9 and was still going on around 11 last night ( Read more... )

The thunderstorms are STILL "training"!

They're forming to the southwest of us, and moving through to the northeast - about one every hour (each lasting 30-45 minutes). I can get a few minutes of stuff done, then more lightning and thunder.

It's not that hot outside, but the humidity... sweat doesn't dry off and the water on the leaves and grass doesn't evaporate (maybe a little when the sun comes out, but then the area fills with a warm, hard to breath fog).

Well, I've got things to do inside anyway...

I'm also glad I found some fogging oil... we've got a propane fogger and if I can get that going, It will help to keep the mosquitoes down (although I wish there weren't as many - that stuff also kills back lightning bugs and we don't get to see them very often).

I just wonder if this weather is still connected to the hurricane - I think they affect a bigger area than is believed, and it could be...

I'm glad you aren't getting hit by the hurricane, not directly, anyhow. your new thing to keep people out is a PITA.

(Laugh) Yeah, although most people don't think about the humidity down here... only that it's warm (hot) and sandy beaches. If they only knew... (Maybe that's why there is supposed to be a steady stream of people leaving the state and going back where they came from.)

We're having another steam bath with extra humidity today. It's supposed to get better later in this week - funny that I'd be looking forward to the "usual Florida summertime weather".
