Russian situation delayed package

I'm concerned about the Russia-Ukraine situation. I purchased a special circuit board from a person living in the Ukraine, but right after he shipped it, the Crimea was taken over. The board finally arrived - after taking a side trip through Russia and Russian customs. It sat in the main post office in the Crimea before finally being re-numbered and put through the system - without anyone being notified of the change. It was in black hole limbo until today... when it was delivered. (At least, it doesn't look like they opened the package and went through the content!)

Their politics caused us some real stress (near the end of the semester at that) because we can't afford to throw away money, or have it tied up by a corporation because of something outside of our control. The board also is perfect for a project I'm going to be working on after the semester is over... I don't need to modify anything to get it to work properly.

I've heard from a couple of people now that the way the situation over there is being portrayed isn't the truth - from locals. People aren't happy at all with Russia and it's being referred to as "the occupation".

I also wonder which giant corporations are going to make out like a bandit from this situation. It's too pat, and from the portrayal in the US news, I wonder how much BS we're being fed.

russia, truth, crimea, ukraine
