Sadly, because of my coworkers deciding to give me an expensive going away party at yakiniku, I can`t go to Toki`s bday party at the Butler cafe. I went to Niigata today to visit a friend from University who just came to Japan 3 weeks ago. [am writing this in retrospect] She lives about two blocks from the sea of Japan. It's a really nice area. She lives on a hill (though you can't see the ocean), and there are cedar trees which go all the way down close to the coast. There isn't much sand-- ( Read more... )

Yesterday was really fun, although unusual. We all got dressed up after work (though the Japanese staff didn't participate in this as I think they thought we were a little strange to do so) and took pictures first. On Saturday, we all went to a traditional Japanese dinner, where you have to take off your shoes and put them in little cubby-holes and walk around in bare feet the rest of the time. It was so fun.
