It was very strange at first, then fabulously powerful when the plot kicked in, then damned uncomfortable but no less compelling, and ended on such a magical empowering moment that I was left wondering why I felt a little dissatisfied.

I can't say I enjoyed PowersIt started out with great promise and, yeah, for the most part, developed with that great stealth Le Guin does so well. But somewhere in the last third, the strength of the narrative seemed to ebb. The gender discourse I found as provocative and incisive as always.
