boojumlol gave me G.
1. Ged: Oh there are no words for how wonderful Ged is ... from Sparrowhawk to Archmage and beyond to just a gardener, from that proud wilful boy who grew thriving like a weed to the man who followed a boy to the shores of death and over the mountains of pain, who held the cave roof up above a girl's head and asked her to light the way. He's the perfect blend of wisdom and innocence, of flaws and courage. Ged who will always look like a Johnny Depp actually subject to the laws of ageing to me.
2. Granny Weatherwax: Okay, prolly cheating here since her name really is Esmerelda but she'll always be Granny Weatherwax to me. I want to be her when I grow up. I'm fairly certain I'm kinda already halfway there. All the sharp edges and fierce cynicism of her, and how she always always sees further than you expect her to. Esme who stands with her back to the light and looks without flinching into the darkness, guarding the light. The solid moral centre to her that is nevertheless tempted astray by the sheer force of her character, of her skill and knowledge. Pray that she never finds a god she can believe in.
3. Rupert Giles: Because as lovely as he is when he's cleaning his glasses and walking into trees and getting frustrated with computers, he has his darkness and his darkness is a blade edge, whether he's reckless on band candy or telling Willow off in the darkened kitchen or doing what needs to be done because Buffy is the hero and he isn't. And Giles when he makes his terrible mistakes and has taught all he can teach but ultimately is there when we need him. "The earth is definitely doomed."
4. Gellert Grindelwald: for the sheer mystery of him, the untold story of that relationship, so much hinted at in that glimpse of an emaciated man in the tower room. The mouthwateringly beautiful charismatic boy he must have been and oh, to see him change slowly through the years, changing Albus, and how the two come full circle. *sigh*
5. Goldie the Gargoyle:
Gaiman. Sandman. Meep.
Oh, I shouldn't have eaten that pizza. Oof.
