One of my favourite books growing up was non-fiction: Landbokvinden by Ole Højrup. It's a compilation from oral accounts, of the everyday life and tasks of rural women in Denmark in the later part of the 1800s, i.e. pre-industrialisation. I don't think it's ever been translated, and I hope it's fair use to translate this recounting of Christmas ( Read more... )
