Not being involved in the entertainment industry, I usually don't do much when the Academy Awards come around, but last year and this year I've gone to DocuDay. It's a screening of all the nominated short and long Documentaries that are nominated for the Academy Awards--held right before so that the film-makers are around to talk about their films ( Read more... )

I opened the front door just a second and a hummingbird flew into my house. I tried to get it to go out the door, but it kept flying up to the upper windows and skylight and then it flew off where I couldn't find it. I think it must have hit a window too hard or died of stress (starvation?) before I could find it and get it out. Poor thing... ;

My thanks to crybabymommie for LJing about The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I was cloistered with it for an intense day of reading and still can't get it out of my mind (althought I've read a couple of good books since).
