I'm currently an undergraduate sophomore, and have just declared as a Philosophy major.  Ideally, I would probably be an English major, but I attend a small school that has a pretty weak English department.  The Philosophy department, on the other hand, is one of the school's strengths (they run the only PhD program at my university).

I've taken 3 practice tests this past week (I've been studying for about a month) and my scores were: 520V/290Q, 530V/290Q, and 550V/350Q.

One test was in my Princeton review book, one was in Barron's, and the highest was test 1 in Powerprep. I know these are awful scores, but I take my exam on Wednesday. My question is: Should I schedule another ( Read more... )

A few weeks ago, I posted here freaking about my GRE math scores. They're still horrible but they've improved from a 250 to a 400.

However, after studying a lot of Verbal it only went up from a 520 to a 530. This is not anywhere near where I'd like. I'm shooting for at least a 600 V and a 400 M so I can get a combined 1000.

I’m applying to Ph.D. programs in Health Services Research. A few of the schools allow you to submit an optional ‘diversity statement.’ I’m not diverse when it comes to race, gender or SES-but I’m wondering if I should even attempt this statement or if skipping it would hurt my chances of being accepted?

I know that some people consider taking graduate level courses to help build up their application and show they can do grad level work. I've been out of my undergrad for a little while, and have been considering taking one or two at the local university.
