"We're fools whether we dance or not..."

"... so we might as well dance".

Aka, the most important purpose of this post is for me and franztastisch to flail about certain dancing AU. (Everyone is welcome!) I am working on a long, angsty, serious, full-of-feels fic and I could use some laughs and fun and plotting and ideas and whatever.

Also, the interesting discussion over at be_compromised prompted me to reread ( Read more... )

I think the first fanfiction I ever read was Draco/ Hermione. It's held my love as a ship ever since.

(And I've already told you how excited I am for the dancing fic :))

I adore Draco/Hermione - I thought I could never like it, and then started tor ead out of sheer curiosity. I am so glad I was converted! (my most "popular" story on AO3 is D/Hr.)

Yeeeees, I seriously need to go into that one once I'm done with Nat's baby 'verse. Oh Clint and all of his emotional issues and working through them. It's quite hard to write but I like what I'm doing with it. :))))

Any things I should definitely put into dancing AU? :D

Fun costumes! Witty banter!

Other than that, I don't know, whatever. Ridiculous theme nights? A subtle critique of reality television? A subtle critique of people who critique reality television?

YEEEEES to all of those. (I tried doing a subtle critique of celebrity world in actors AU. I can poke at reality television, as most of it, at least what we have here, isn't fun like SCD).

But yes, costumes, banter, dancing, ridiculous theme nights and bonus dancing numbers and ALL THE FUN THINGS YES YES YESSSSSSS.

HELLO HELLO HELLO. Sorry, was eating. I sort of knew this would happen. :P

OK to start off, I had a million ideas about this as soon as you said you had the idea about writing a SCD AU. And basically, as dancing is what I see AU Clint and Natasha doing (rather than fighting.. or sometimes as well as) I FELL IN LOVE.

And this could very easily turn into a MASSIVE COMMENT. So apologies in advance.

OK so my whole idea for this was based off this piece of music which I love. Basically, you know that dance the last 2 or 3 couples have to do? The Freestyle, where you can do whatever you want? I saw Clint and Natasha dancing to this. And then, when the beat drops (heh) they seamlessly switch into... well, attempting to beat the crap out of each other. And then when the music gets quieter, they go back to dancing. And basically they blow everyone's minds and win. (I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS IDEA and no matter what happens to this AU of yours, I will be forever grateful that you triggered this brainwave ( ... )

Other people: SCD in this case is presented by Tony Stark, a well-known and well-loved TV presenter, who spends his time flirting shamelessly with Pepper Potts, the floor manager/producer. Darcy is the loveable make-up artist. Everyone loves her and she can gossip with the best of them. Two of the judges are Loki (who is the fabulously camp one obvs) and Jean Grey (idk why this one but I like it). Other than Steve and Natasha I have Storm (Ororo Monroe) as a professional dancer, and other contestants include Logan (Wolverine - some form of professional sports person), Gwen Stacey (actress?) and Peter Parker (gymnast?). I'm sure I had more thought up, but now I can't remember them.

So yeah! It's... a lot, right? :P

THIS MEANS I HAVE TO REWATCH X MEN? I originally planned to include as much Avengers characters as I can, and then add OCs for other contestants. I shall think about this! :) Loki as a judge, I like that. He can constantly criticize Clint.

And Loki's reaction to the Freestyle is "...I literally cannot think of one bad thing to say". :P

And yeah, I thought using other Marvel characters for the other parts would be cool. OH MY GOD JOHNNY STORM CAN BE A DOUCHBAG CONTESTANT. That would be AWESOME. Hahaha.

So, my Dancing!AU... ashen_key May 4 2013, 21:12:33 UTC
...would involve me being contrary, as this is what I do. Also is incredibly sketchy as I'm thinking it up as I type.

Clint's the professional; he's ex-circus, but kept the dancing. For all in personality he's fairly steady, he's been a performer since he was a kid, and he enjoys it. Bobbi-the-ex was trying to work out if she wanted to be a professional dancer or a scientist - she didn't get into a comp, so she decided scientist (she coaches dancing on the side, though), and they drifted apart for other reasons. Not sure what Clint's day-job is! Presuming he has one. He's getting older for the professional circuit, but he couches/is moving into couching.

So, then, Natasha. Natalia Romanova, Russian and professor of philology who moved over to the US and is a celebrity academic (due to....reasons <.< ). She's more dramatic in presentation in public (she's a teacher, a lecturer, and she's the kind who gestures with her hands and loves her students and pushes them to think), but it's a lot of...an actor's deliberate dramatic. She's a ( ... )

WRITE IT!!! *enabling* *GGG*

It's a great idea (Sif and Loki and Natasha as an academic and eeeeveerrrryyything - I am losing my ability to type tho. I need sleep!)

OK so how about this. (If you don't know who some of them are, let me know.) Also EVERYTHING IS UP FOR NEGOTIATION. This is by no means set in stone, and I have no problem with you altering this ( ... )

Carol Danvers- war hero? athlete?, Rogue/ Anna Marie- southern belle fashion designer?. And we can always throw a journalist in there. It is Marvel after all.

Can Logan be a wrestler?

Does Coulson double as Clint's manager/ advocate in this process?

because Anthony Mackie

What other reason do you need?

franztastisch May 6 2013, 17:14:47 UTC
I don't think a war hero would get a place on SCD. :P And I'm not too keen on the idea of another athlete - in my experience, SCD is mostly made up of TV personalities in some way, so I'm still not sure about Carol. I love the idea of Rogue as a southern belle fashion designer though. :D And her fashion house can be called Rogue. I just need a last name for her...

I like Logan as a footballer (American football that is, not that I know any more about American football than I know of European football). There's something... right about that to me. *shrugs*

I'm not sure what Coulson is really. I remember I made him Clint's coach, but that implied that Coulson knows archery, which in my head he really really doesn't. Maybe manager is better.

Anthony Mackie is the best reason. :D

The few versions of the shows I've watched had 2-3 athletes, so there is room for one more. But really, the minor characters can probs be anything without it affecting the story. Carol was a print journalist for some of comics, so maybe that? The problem with making Logan an American football player is he's really not large enough. I can see him as a soccer player, or even a rugby player, but it just doesn't seem American football would be his game. Of course, you can always ignore that canon Logan is short.

I feel sorry for Sue being paired with Hammer. I can see how that couple would go early.
