Last weekend we went for a spin down to Culzean. I know I've posted dozens of pictures of Culzean before but it really is such a beautiful place that it's impossible not to post more. Any AoS fans who have suddenly developed a burning interest in curling (yes mylodon I'm looking at you) might be interested in checking out the North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer. The North West Castle is apparently unique in being the only hotel in the world that has its own full sized indoor curling rink.

When I posted the pics of Culzean last week, I forgot to add pictures of the Monkey House! Yep that's right, the Kennedys had a Monkey House in the form of a pagoda built in 1814 to house their collection of exotic birds and animals. I feel sure Sir Edward would approve! I wonder if they had tigers, baboons and oriental quadrupeds?!

Last weekend we went for a spin down to Culzean for the first time this year. It was an absolutely glorious day and the castle and grounds looked as spectacular as ever. Who knew Scotland could look this pretty in October?!

Last weekend's visit to Culzean reminded me of something I've been meaning to post since this time last year! As well as the beautiful castle and grounds, Culzean also has a rather good second hand bookshop. While we were there last summer I picked up three volumes of the 1909 edition of W.H. Yesterday we had a rare dry day so we went for a spin down to Culzean. The castle and gardens looked glorious as always. I swear that little bit of the Ayrshire coast gets better weather than anywhere else in Scotland, it always seems to be warm and sunny there.
