I am really, really close to being done with the quilt for the Awesome Irish cousin. Less than three feet of handstitching let on the binding, and then just a little decorative hand quilting. Made a really stupid mistake while cutting out a pattern piece - the kind of stupid mistake where you know you are making a mistake even as you make it, but forge ahead anyway because of some bullheaded sense of false optimism - which means I can't fit the last piece on the fabric and keep the grain lined up correctly ( Read more... )

On the 10th of October, one of my innumerable female cousins got married (I suppose there's only... um... seven of us? But it seems like a lot!) and the ceremony was held at Granny and Granddad's, out on a hillside in the sun. It was the last sunny Sunday in October. I just had one of those lovely moments where I finished a quilt block, only to realize I was going to have to rip it all out and start all over. Not just rip a few seams, this bloody thing is going to have to go back to component pieces. argharghargh.
