1. I voted yesterday. In Wisconsin you can cast an absentee ballot if you are "unwilling or unable to vote on election day" (you sign a statement to that effect and voila, absentee ballot, aka early voting). 1. The snow must go on: We had 5.3 inches of heavy, wet, nasty, slushy snow yesterday, plus another inch last night. Many schools (but not our district) were closed across Wisconsin yesterday; darling daughter asked yesterday a.m. if we could move VERY QUICKLY to another district so she wouldn't have to go to school. Ann Richards has died of cancer at age 73. She was always one of my favorite Democrats, male or female. She was smart, sassy and always made me laugh but she also had a keen political mind. One of my favorite lines she said was, "George W. Bush was born with a silver foot in his mouth." I had the great pleasure of seeing her speak about two years ( Read more... )

I'm starting to think there's something in the water, or some kind of negative aura involved...Since my mother died on January 15th, at least 4 other co-workers have lost a parent or parent-in-law...and three of those happened in the past 2 weeks. I was sorry to see to that baseball great Kirby Puckett (Hall of Famer from the Minnesota Twins) died yesterday from a stroke he suffered Sunday, while Dana Reeve (widow of Christopher Reeve) died from lung cancer. Dana Reeve never smoked in her life, but she was a cabaret singer/actress and spent a lot of time in smoky bars/theatres. Both of them ( Read more... )
