The past few weeks have been a whirl-wind of activity and change.
Pearl Paint closed their two stores in the area, and everything was 75% off. I bought a lot of stuff, and went back almost everyday while they were still open. I probably about doubled my prismacolor marker collection, and I also scored some individual rapidograph pens--almost a full set. I'll use those for different color inks (other than black since I have a full set filled with black ink already). I'm most excited to try the pens with white ink.
I bought a small square sketchbook and I've slowly been filling the pages. Here are a few selected images:
I seem to have selected a lot of circular shapes to show here, but I drew some other stuff too! I swear! If you want to see the other drawings, check out my
flickr page.
I moved out of my VA house, and I'm back up in MD. Officially a Marylander again. All of my stuff is still piled up in my room here, waiting to be organized and put away. It'll be nice when I can find out where my socks are. Yesterday I went to my room, fully intending to work on organizing everything, but Otto came up and wanted to cuddle, and it was so nice there that I fell asleep... for 3 hours. Waking up at 8pm is not exactly conducive to an 11pm bedtime, so I didn't go back to sleep until quite late, so the cycle continues.
We are getting a ton of snow dumped on us again. I'm so excited! There's such an air of anticipation in the, um, air. I went to Whole Foods on the way home and it was insane, but I got milk and cheese and oranges, so now the snow may come! It also took me about 2 hours to drive home. But now I don't have to leave again til Monday since I preemptively mentioned that I probably wasn't going to bother driving down tomorrow since the snow is now supposed to start at 10am. Woo!
I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Things have been so busy I haven't had a moment to breathe. This weekend it'll just be me and the dogs and my mom. We have cable now, so I can even watch movies while I sit in front of the fire. I'd love to work on my art to-do list and finish scanning some stuff that's been waiting patiently (I'm going to attempt to scan a larger drawing in pieces and see if I can successfully stitch it together!).
Work is work. My bosses are going to India, and this time it'll be a deciding factor for the company. If we are successful, we can carry on. If not, I'm afraid this might be it for this incarnation of the business. I'm going to remain focused on my purpose to try to get as much out of whatever time I have there. Hopefully it'll keep on going, but if not, I want to be prepared to work on some of this stuff on my own, and I really think I'm getting there!
For now I'm going to juice some oranges and build a fire and stay cozy while I wait for the snow to start falling.
