Clover and Audrey each tried on over a dozen costumes and Fynn mostly stayed dresesd in his regular clothes, but they all had a great time running around with the group! Half of the kids focused on superheroes and the other half on the castle/princess/fairy type imaginative play. Sometimes they crossed which was really interesting...haha!

there was a major winter storm over this past weekend. technically it wasn't a blizzard, though it was darn close! we had over a foot of snow and it seemed like everything was shut down for almost 2 days! it was exciting and beautiful.

Cloverbuds in February was all about the senses. We learned about our 5 senses with an interactive story and then with a hands-on guessing game. The kids sniffed cotton swabs and guessed what they were smelling. They tasted popcorn with various flavoring. They closed their eyes, picked a fabric, and described the way it felt.

Today was back to CILC! The theme in for January is the human body! The weather is unusually warm today (above 60) so the group headed straight to the backyard for a long playtime to start things off. Clover and I went to the School for Creative & Performing Arts in Cincinnati to see The Nutcracker ballet.  It was a little long for a 4 year old, but it was so fun to see the age range in the students & really nice to see so much diversity in the cast.  They start at the 4th grade age....a lot of the mice and little soldiers were the first years ( Read more... )

We've had a lot of fun with CILC.  At Cloverbuds we learned about dinosaurs.  Clover and Fynn spent a lot of time at the fossil-making station imprinting leaves and dinos into playdough.  Fynn asked me to read about 75 names of different dinos in this magazine, which was difficult and hilarious ( Read more... )

we met at the rec center today with CILC. each family chose a planet, found it's book and coordinating model, and did some research. then we went around the circle, each of the children/parent groups choosing interesting facts about their planet to share. fynn and clover chose jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system that has 63 moons! We haven't been participating in CILC very often since the "school" year started. Between a lot of traveling and some drawn out illnesses it's been difficult. But a few weeks ago we made it for Tree Day and had a blast. We met outside at the Nature Center in Blue Ash and Maria gave each kid a book. Loveland Castle was so much fun! The tour guide was a bit sketchy, but entertaining nevertheless. I'm not sure how much the kids understood, but I certainly learned a lot about castles that I never knew.
