There is nothing so annoying as deciding today you WILL send out a couple manuscripts, get cover letters ready (including bugging your ever-so-nice editor about how much you are able to disclose about a work-in-progress), make sure your manuscript will print out properly and then realize you only have about 30 sheets of paper! And submitting! I got a copy of Children's Writer's Guide for 2007, went through it, visited websites, and found a publisher that seems like a good candidate for my first rejection. Only a writer can find joy in an empty mailbox! I just got back from a week-long absense. I worried that I would find my manuscript returned, crumpled in my itty-bitty mailbox along with junk mail and bills.
