Three days until the second part of Jane Eyre. I suspect I shall enjoy this half much better. It didn't help being sick during the first half. Although I don't know what it is with the recent upsurge of drop-dead VOICES-first it was Richard Armitage as Thornton and now it's Toby Stephens as Rochester-so rich and deep and warm and velvety- what can one do but go tingly whenever he says "Jaane"?

They're making a film called the Baker Street Irregulars, which at first I was excited about until I realized that a) it's not based on the children's book I always adored to death-The Case of the Baker Street Irregular,

which I still cherish a fondness for as sparking several enduring loves, among them London and Sherlock Holmes, and
b) Jonathan Pryce-the dude who plays Elizabeth's father in Pirates of the Caribbean, is going to be playing Sherlock Holmes - yes you read right, that weak-chinned, weak-minded, irritating fool of an actor. All right, so maybe he's not weak-minded but as Sherlock Holmes, the brilliant, decisive, mysterious, razor-minded and quick-witted mastermind and crime-solver? Ha. I'll even take Rupert Everett over him any day - decidedly odd as that pairing was, it actually worked

(more on that another time). *ugly face* Bill Paterson of Wives and Daughters will be playing Bill Paterson-woops! Dr. Watson, excuse me, but that hardly makes up for it.

And has anyone on my flist seen The Woodlanders? I'm considering getting it from Netflix but would like to know first if it's good and if I should read the book first(it is based on a Thomas Hardy book, right? so far, Far from the Madding Crowd is the only book of his I actually like). But then again it stars Rufus Sewell...who is far from my favorite actor but I admit he possesses a certain nascent charm. Opinions?
Here is the summary:
The story is set in late 19th century rural corner of South England. The daughter of timber merchant Melbury, Grace, returns to the town after finishing school. Her father now believes she can find a better husband than her childhood sweetheart, woodsman Giles. She marries handsome young doctor FitzPiers, but soon finds out he's not the man of her dreams and she still loves Giles.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to my flist,
