Just because it says organic on it doesn't make it good for you by default.  I've had this conversation way too many times with people lately (mostly mothers) and it gets frustrating.  Organic sugar is still sugar and large quantities of it are still bad for you.

Yesterday, I made these lovely pumpkin snicker-doodle cookies for a cookie swap I'm participating in. I really like them. They turned out wonderful - light and slightly sweet with a nice pumpkin flavor. Yummy!

Last night I made a Pear and Pumpkin crumble (found here).  It was okay - the crust was good but the bottom mixture wasn't that sweet.  It was very pumpkiny.  If I make it again I'd leave the white sugar out of the crumble part, add more maple syrup, and use less pumpkin.  I would probably add cinnamon too - but I do love cinnamon!

I made a lovely pumpkin and chocolate layer cake yesterday!  (From here.)  I did add some nutmeg to the pumpkin cake mixture though because I love the combo of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  It is super yummy!  If I was to make it again I think I might skip the chocolate layers altogether.  It's not that chocolate-y and I wouldn't want to make it ( Read more... )

Our recent trip to Florida went well.  It was nice to get away and visit family.  Dominic finally got to meet his Grandparents, his Aunt, Uncle, other Aunt, and two cousins.  And, his Auntie Christine (Will's sister and the recipient of the penguin apron) got engaged to her boyfriend Christian!  So, Congratulations Christine and Christian!
