Florida

Our recent trip to Florida went well.  It was nice to get away and visit family.  Dominic finally got to meet his Grandparents, his Aunt, Uncle, other Aunt, and two cousins.  And, his Auntie Christine (Will's sister and the recipient of the penguin apron) got engaged to her boyfriend Christian!  So, Congratulations Christine and Christian!

Florida was hot - but that seems pretty normal since it's hot every time we visit.  Christine and Christian were great hosts as usual and showered us and Dominic with gifts and food (Auntie Christine bought a HUGE container of cookies for Dominic so he ate his first cookie and then we discovered that he'd let just about anyone hold him if he had a cookie in his mouth so he ate a LOT of cookies).  We had a wonderful time swimming in the pool with Dominic for the first time.  He loved it and I'm sure we will go swimming every time we visit now.  He did develop a rash on his legs (which eventually showed up on my arms too!) that I think might have been from the chlorine in the pool.  He's had a bit of eczema off and on that I think was just irritated but then I got it too which was really weird.  We are going to speak to the pediatrician about it on his next visit.

Our pictures of the three cousins ended up being canceled.  Will's brother came down with an illness so they were unable to make the drive down to make the appointment.  In some ways it worked out for the best.  All three boys will be older on our next visit which I assume will make things easier when it comes to getting the three of them to look at a photographer at the same time while smiling.  We did attempt to get some on our own (once Michael was feeling better they drove down for an afternoon so we would at least get to meet Gage and they could meet Dominic) and didn't end up with any where all three are looking at the camera at the same time (but we did get one where all three are looking in the same direction).

Christine and I made marshmallows from scratch (flavored with orange extract) that were delicious!  Here they are in the pan:

Hmm, doesn't look like much does it?  Next time, I think we will swirl in some food coloring to make the more visually interesting.

I did find some wonderful quilting/fabric stores there and came home with a lovely assortment of fabric!  This is new fabric for my food quilt project (with all this added I now have 4.5 yards of fabric which I have been collecting for 5ish years):

And, here is the other fabric that I bought (projects for these are unknown at this point, they were pretty and I couldn't resist):

Now, to pack for our trip to Seattle (we leave on Saturday and I'm so un-organized - help!).
