As my husband, The Gryphon, will attest, I am a sucker for any competition-based show. Whether the contestants are dancing, singing, cooking, modeling, cutting hair, or designing fashions, I absolutely love elimination shows that involve a special talent. On Friday night, my husband and I attended the annual big dinner at my Dad's medical association banquet, held in the Valley Forge Convention Center. The event was very similar to previous years, and despite still feeling a little under the weather, I enjoyed myself.

This was the weekend of my dad's medical convention, which made for a busy weekend, starting with Friday night and the black-tie-optional dinner. Saturday we met him and his girlfriend for dinner and saw a couple bands at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore.

This past weekend was my dad's birthday, so we invited him on a visit to celebrate. He arrived Friday night by dinner time, and I had made some barbecue chicken, quinoa, sautéed mushrooms and steamed vegetables. Then I had to do my evening work assignments. Dad watched some TV downstairs and socialized with The Gryphon once he came home.
