I picked up a new toy today: An Acer Aspire Rivo. It's a small, diamond-shaped thin that is basically a weak Atom-CPU stapled to a screaming-fast GF9400. This gives it some interesting properties, and foretells what is to come in the computing world ( Read more... )

Spurred on by queenpam, a post! I'm out of the US! Currently in China. In a factory. Telling people how to do things. It's great fun. Aside from the things that aren't. Soldering things is hard, apparently. Or at least soldering them correctly is.

It's always a good feeling when things get repaired. It puts an end to a project, or gets you a little bit closer to completion. Things I've fixed today:

• Stereo system - We got this a year ago, and I only got around to fixing it today. I ended up swapping the rotary coders, because the volume knob was wonky, and the other knob really isn't used.

Just a note about AudioQueueNewOutput: If you call this function from within the iPhone simulator, and pass to it an MP3 file, it will lock up your program (without providing a backtrace.) This is supremely annoying. Partly because of the lockup, but also because it means that as of now, my program can't accurately be simulated.
