Sleepy stage manager

Oct 29, 2012 23:11

I'm sitting at my computer sipping warm apple cider. I feel incredibly relaxed. Earlier this evening in rehearsal, I couldn't stop yawning. The King and I cast weren't released till 10pm. Even though I usually spend once a week working that late, it still drains me.

The second stage of Southern California's Fall is in full swing. First stage is Indian summer. Temps in the 90s, even 100s. The second is wind. Dry hot wind. It makes me hot and cold at the same time. Said wind also causes my eczema to flare up. Only been a few days of fall winds and already the usual spots on my body are itchy. Sometimes I scratch. :/ Bad, bad habit that I need to break. Still, even parts of my body I never scratch, like the inside of my arm, develop tiny little bumps.

I just read The Power of Habit for Book Club. Book Club was started a couple months ago by friends K and S. Power of Habit was fantastic. Lots of case studies about how people broke habits. I love the concept of a keystone habit, like making your bed. I need to apply what I learned in that book to my eczema, me thinks.

Speaking of books, I finished The Damnation Games by Clive Barker. The book starts out tame. I didn't believe the front cover quotes about it being terrifying til maybe a third of the way through. Then it just ran like wildfire, one scary thing after the other. It went beyond what I can usually tolerate for grotesque imagery. Anyone else read it? I need a break from horror. Damnation Games coupled with Joe Hill's Heart Shaped Box took the strength out of me.
