On Monday, I think I did one of the stupidiest things I've ever done. *facepalm*
Basically, I was in the car for three hours and had to take a 65 mile detour to get to Irvine on Monday. The 5 was doing great that afternoon... until I hit Oceanside. Traffic stopped just north of the 76. AHH!! I think I moved one car length in 20 minutes. I found out, via Cal Walker on various radio stations (the same Cal Walker who had said earlier how awesome traffic was that day, that it was relaxed, etc), that the 5 was closed past Harbor Blvd. because a big rig was in the middle of the freeway on fire. Um, yea? I backtracked, got on the 76, took the 15 to the 91 and then to the 55 to get to my apartment. AHHHHHH!!!
Meanwhile, Sunny, who was meeting me in Irvine, wasn't having an easy time in her car either. She got on the 241 or the 261, a toll road off the 91. She didn't mean to get on it.. and then she missed her exit off it. Poor girl had to use up all her change just to pay the toll. She ended up getting to my apartment before I did, meeting my new roommates too!! Thank God for Tim, or both of us would have been lost.
Why was I going to Irvine, you might ask? The traffic gods were obviously sending me signs that this trip was a bad idea. Well flist, I was seeing Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at OCPAC. Hmm. Let's think about this for a second. Aren't most shows dark on Monday? Isn't Monday the AEA (actors equity assocation, the union for actors and stage managers) day off? Shouldn't Mary, as a drama major and theatre lover, know this???
I don't know why in the hell I thought it was Monday. It's actually today. So, I'm leaving work now and picking up Sunny from Riverside. At least I got to meet my new roommates, collect rent checks and hang out with Garret/Andy. We watched Wet Hot American Summer and tried to help Garret through the Forest Temple in Ocarina in Time.
