I decided I wanted to try My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. A new restaurant to Tucson. My sister arrived about 6 PM and we visited for awhile so we didn't get there until 8. The restaurant looked like a sports bar with the Greek Key symbol etched on glass dividers. There were six TV on high around the edge. The menu seemed very Americanized I think we will have to try some other Greek restaurants in Tucson for one that is less fusion. I had the gyro plate with meat, potatoes, steamed vegetables and 3 wedges of pita bread with the yogurt sauce. I requested extra sauce. K had the gyro wrap which was gyro meat in a pesto wrap (green) with lettuce, onion , tomato and yogurt sauce with a side salad.
wayfinder38 had the bacon cheeseburger with French Fries. For desert we had a flaming custard. The custard was more like a cheese cake. I am all about texture when it comes to custard dishes and this was not the right texture at all. I would have tried the moussaka but they said it was made with beef and zucchini and eggplant. All the moussaka I have had up until now was lamb or lamb and beef with eggplant so I passed on their version. Also when I wanted to make moussaka I must have read at least 25 recipes before I picked one to use and all of them used lamb and eggplant. The food we had was good but not above average and just wasn't what I was looking for.
Friday we went out for breakfast and then shopping for a dress K could wear to the Marine Corp Ball in Glendale. I was looking at a dress and said this is something Mother would wear and she said let me look. She tried it on and it looked very nice so we only had to stop at one store.
In the afternoon
wayfinder38 saw his urologist to talk about treatment. Since the next step is chemo which would treat the cancer in the ureters and kidneys as well as any other cells in the bloodstream the doctor took out the nephrostomy tubes.
I can't begin to tell you how happy
wayfinder38 is about getting rid of those tubes. He said now I can go swimming. I think the tubes have been harboring bacteria and I hope getting rid of them will help get rid of the recurring urinary tract infections.
When we got to the Dr. office he was running a fever over 101° so they started him on Cipro and I gave him some tylenol.
He stayed home Saturday morning while K and I went to the Kaffe Klatch. I was contributing to the cost of doughnuts with 3 other people who have November birthdays. They also held a ceremony to honor all the Veterans. My sister was the only woman veteran there. She served in the Marine Corp. I remember her visits to us during that time when she would take our children outside and drill them.
Last night we went to the Octoberfest celebration at the clubhouse. We had brats, potatoes, sauerkraut and a turnover and beer, if you want to call Miller beer. They had music for dancing and most of the people there were dancing from the start of the music.
wayfinder38 was still feeling rocky even after sleeping most of the day so we left before the door prizes.
Today was a quiet day at home so I watched a bunch of Eureka episodes that I recorded earlier.
