We met with
wayfinder38's urologist yesterday to get the results of the bladder biopsies taken the week before. First he told us that there was high grade cancer but it was not invasive. Also it is the papillary type and not CIS. This means another series of the BCG (tuberculosis bacillus) as bio therapy.
There is more. They also examined the kidneys and took a wash from each side and they both showed cancer. Visually he they looked fine. There is a possibility the specimens were contaminated from the cancer in the bladder or there is actually some cancer present in the ureters or kidneys. After some discussion it was decided to do another exam of the kidneys and take another specimen sample. I asked if there was some way to treat the kidneys and he reported there is but it is a "pain in the tush." For whom
wayfinder38 asked. Both the urologist and the resident pointed at
wayfinder38. It would involve putting a tube into the kidneys from the back and instilling the BCG directly to the kidneys and would require 4 hours of time each week for six weeks at the clinic.
This means we will be staying in Tucson well into summer as any treatment will not start until the end of April to allow the bladder to heal from the tumor resections.
So another Dr. visit where there is bad news and ambiguous new with more procedures and appointments to come.
After the appointment we went for breakfast at The Good Egg. We had not been there before. The menu was extensive and boasted they had been named the best place for breakfast in Tucson. I just took the special which was bay shrimp and crab in scrambled eggs with green chilies and cheese topped with pico de gallo and mango salsa and the sides were country fried potatoes and English Muffin.
wayfinder38 had the Eggs Benedict. I enjoyed my Sabrosa but the Eggs Benedict were a disappointment. Instead of Canadian Bacon they served a slice of processed ham and the Hollandaise was thin. The poached eggs medium were the right consistency. We probably were not in the best mood to appreciate any meal. We processed the bad news some and then did the rest of our errands.
We are still in process as far as moving in. The motorhome is sitting on the street in front of the neighbors so we can have the front door next to our drive way. A friend had rented a carpet shampoo machine and he shampooed the carpet this morning. I had vacuumed the carpet. I then did a thorough cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom area. I could not do much in the kitchen as the chair from the living area took up the floor. The carpet should be dry this morning and I can finish cleaning and then we can move the motorhome into storage. Then I will advertise it for sale. It is a bittersweet moment to say farewell to 10 1/2 years of a way of life.
