I opted for a separate skirt and bodice, that way I can mix and match pieces for future use should the opportunity present itself. I finally caved and bought a bodice pattern as I have never drafted anything like this and did not have the time to experiment. The second dance costume I ever made for myself was a white cabaret bedlah with pearls, white lace, irridecent glitter and crystals. For the belt a lovely piece of netting with tassles that I spiffed up at the top with some opalescent sequins and three white and pearl appliques. I was rather proud of the final effect.

Stil working on the to-do list, which isn't actually getting any shorter. Most of the items on the list carry other projects along with it so while I'm actually doing things, I still can't really cross very many things off as done yet. It also doesn't help that as I do things, I find more buried underneath. Craft Archeological Strata - as it were.

As the basement is perpetually a bit damp, I occasionally pull out the fabric I have stacked on shelving to air out. Currently I have what may be 5 meters of burgundy cut/patterned (stripes) velvet dramatically draping itself over my wash-line ( Read more... )

As mentioned earlier, Saturday was an impromptu gig at the studio Landlords home. Was a very lovely evening, and we have a permanent invitation to all further shindigs. The lake was lovely, the fireworks surprising, the guests a very mixed bunch, the food tasty. All in all a good time.

I decided to do some work on the Red Menace tonight, only 4 appliques left to sew down on the thing after all, and somehow without even noticing on the first applique I pick up I have already stabbed myself.

**sigh**

I think I remember now why it's been sitting for at least two years...

but I can claim temporary insanity.

I'm actually making something for myself out of pink fabric. Lord help me.

At least it's a dance costume....
