This table was my first antique purchase. It came from the estate of a prominent local attorney who willed his estate to a nearby university. I didn't make the cut for the nursing program this time around.

At least the reason was objective (not enough points, it's gotten very competitive) and not subjective ("We didn't like what you were wearing, not to mention you are a ginormously ugly freak! Be gone, or we shall unleash the hounds!")

So, I went to orientation today. Guess what?

Too many students, not enough places in the nursing class.

58 spots are available, 78 students have applied.

This means the herd needs to be culled by 20 spots, or roughly 25%.
